Inspiration

I've struggled to find a label for the kind of fiction I aspire to write, so I decided to keep a list of works that inspire me here. The goal here is not to compare myself to these creators, instead it's to direct you towards people that do what I want to do better than I do. Shooting myself in the foot, I guess.

Here are some works that inspire my own. Some stories told in really interesting ways:

  • House of Leaves - Mark Z. Danielewski

  • Sleep No More - Punchdrunk

  • The Beginner's Guide & The Stanley Parable - Davey Wreden

  • Her Story - Sam Barlow

  • My Father's Long, Long Legs - Michael Lutz

  • Gone Home - Fullbright

  • The work of Jorge Luis Borges

  • The work of David Mitchell

  • The work of David Lynch

  • The Dionaea House - Eric Heisserer

  • Rant - Chuck Palahniuk

  • S: Ship of Theseus - J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst

  • Kentucky Route Zero - Carboard Computer

  • Night Film - Marisha Pessl

  • 17776 - Jon Bois

  • The work of Don Hertzfeldt
